Tonight’s episode lasted a mere 2 hours as we rebroadcasted an episode of Gone Mental towards the end of the show. But before we let Twin Cities Rockabilly take over, we made sure to have some of our own fun.

Kjersti and Jake discussed the merits of Sukiyaki Western Django, if any. DJ Hodaddy told us to dig No More Lies by The Gruesomes, and we talked about an upcoming show in Shoreline where the legendary ‘The ‘Verb’ will be playing.

Are you planning on making it out to Darrell’s Tavern to see The ‘Verb? Let us know in the comments below!

Zorch Radio Episode 148: The Legend Of Jesse James
Airdate: Thursday, May 23rd, 2013

TONS of psychobilly in this evening’s episode, mostly all from the vaults of legendary Seattle musician, Jesse James. Jesse is the current ringleader of Appalachian-Death-Polka band, The Wages of Sin, formerly the kingpin of Seattle psychobillies The Spectres, and was also an “undisputed king of American psychobilly” as a founding member of Los Gatos Locos. The All New KGRG FM really didn’t know what hit it.

Jesse came ready to talk about the upcoming gig at the The 2Bit with CanadiAmericana act Big John Bates and Seattle trashy weirdos Bottlenose Koffins on Friday June 7th. (Facebook Event Page)

Wages Gig

And while we did played the rare Mick 14 didgeridoo track in Episode 111, and his little known surf-rap group in Episode 69, we had never actually played a full track from Thee Tiger Armies. Until tonight about halfway through the episode!

BOTW on March 7th, 2013: Ugly Things on the Radio #9

Broadcast of the Week on Zorch Radio Episode 137
Airdate: Thursday, March 7th, 2013
Congratulations! Ugly Things on the Radio #9

UTotR

The best part about this show wasn’t getting to hear his family having dinner in the background, but that he has the missing Downliners Sect EP. What happened was the records went missing and they were left with a bunch of sleeves. Somewhere along the way, the missing music is found on reel to reel at a garage sale. He plays an entire side of it, and I have to say, they are pretty badass. You may want to check out some other things by Mike Stax, like his zine Ugly Things.

BOTW on February 28th, 2013: Southbay Pork #21: Animals, Creatures and Things

Broadcast of the Week on Zorch Radio Episode 136
Airdate: Thursday February 28th, 2013
Congratulations! Southbay Pork #21: Animals, Creatures and Things

sbp21

Rootin’ around and combin’ through the garage punk archives, I rediscovered a dandy ol’ show called Southbay Pork. Episode 21 was an attempt to explain the hiatus. Apparently, he was kidnapped and dropped in the woods, and spent the year living with the Bigfeet and couldn’t escape. He plays lots of music about the primate species, and ends it with music to celebrate his triumphant return home. Towards the end, he starts playin’ some weird stuff, but that makes it all the more fun.

Zorch Radio Episode 141: Who Pooped in the Trash Can?

Zorch Radio Episode 141: Who Pooped in the Trash Can?
Airdate: Thursday, April 4th, 2013

A lingering stench has filled the air of The All New KGRG FM once again. Unlike Episode 133, where we wanted to know what The Puget Sound Underground ate to make our station smell so terrible, this week we wanted to know who left a little present behind in Jake’s trashcan. Yep. Tonight we needed to know WHO POOPED IN THE TRASHCAN??

Aside from the usual crap, we had a special guest in studio tonight. Nick the Hat, madman artist and musician came up to the station tonight to treat us to some of his favorite albums. Aside from sharing his killer collection of bizarro psyche, garage and instrumentals, Nick also shared with us his experiences in radio, his own musical career, and the inspirations behind his nightmare-inducing artwork.

SO YOU HAVE ANY CLUES ON WHO MIGHT HAVE POPPED IN OUR TRASHCAN? We are still looking for the culprit. Please leave a comment below or notify us on our social media pages so we can bring this masked marauder to justice! This evening has a significant lacking of psychobilly, so if that’s what you’re after, check out Episode 138.

Fast and furious, rockin’ and rolling – tonight’s episode slammed into 4th gear and didn’t let up.

Kicking off tonight’s show we announced that we had a pair of tickets to this month’s Grindhouse Theater screening of Maniac in Tacoma. To win those tickets we asked all the Invaders listening in on the airwaves what their favorite song is to sing along to is – thankfully none of you Invaders know the feeling of shame.

From show tunes to The Trashmen, we had calls and Tweets coming in about who we sing along with. Even better than the artists and bands were the places which included but weren’t limited to driving to work, picking up kids from school, showering, washing the family tortoise…

With a mind melting MENAGERIE of trash and chaotic psychobilly behind us, we launched into a very special guest performance by local party band: The Bottlenose Koffins who blasted through a live set of some reverb-soaked trash. Pick up their debut album “Gayzilla” at The Kraken on April 12th. Before our night was through, Kjersti also recapped her latest Trash-Tastic Review on Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky.

Do YOU have a band or artist that you love singing along to? TELL US ABOUT IT! Leave a comment below or hunt us down on one of our social media pages.
